Qualifications as Expert Witness

I am a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in my 33rd year of practice. I am in a full-time practice, with 50% of my clinical time dedicated to hip and knee replacement surgeries including extensive experience in the performance of complex hip and knee revision surgeries for our group. The remainder of my clinical practice is dedicated to the practice of general orthopedics including orthopedic trauma. The hospital I currently practice at, IU Health Arnett Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center at which I provide regular ER call coverage. I received my board certification in 1988 and have since been recertified three times. I am board-certified through December 2028 I am currently participating in Maintenance of Certification with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. I completed my internship and residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Loyola University Affiliated Hospitals in Maywood, Illinois in 1985 and I completed my fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986.  I am a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and am currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery with the IU School of Medicine and Clinical Coordinator of Education for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine for residents and medical students rotating at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.  I am a past Department Chair of Orthopedic Surgery and past Division Director of Surgery for our group. I have authored publications in the orthopedic literature on total knee surgery including revision surgery.  I have participated in several review panels for the State of Indiana charged with the determination of breaches in the standard of care in potential malpractice actions.  I have served for the past several years on the Surgical Standards Committee for our hospital.  I have provided expert opinions on a variety of cases including personal injury cases. I regularly participate in continuing medical education activities and satisfy the maintenance of certification requirements of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery as well as the state board requirements for maintenance of state medical board licensure. In addition, I have taken continuing education courses through SEAK, AADEP, and ABIME regarding providing expert witness reports and testimony.  I follow the AAOS Standards of Professionalism for Orthopaedic Expert Opinion and Testimony and have signed the AAOS Expert Witness Affirmation Statement.  I have attached a copy of my curriculum vitae.
